I'm an I-O psychologist (PhD, Old Dominion University) who has spent my career on the science of talent — roughly six years as a people scientist at Google, and talent and people analytics work at Zscaler.

Across those roles I kept running into the same thing: the holistic view of talent — strategy, structure, and the evidence behind who fills each role — usually lives in the head of one overloaded senior person. It depends on their judgment, and it walks out the door when they do.
